Austria Car Market down 11% in February. Audi advanced in second.

The Austrian car sales in February were 21.196, down 11.7% from last year. Year-to-date sales were 48.957, down 3.7%. Following an astonishing and surprising January performance, when share jumped at 13.2%, Skoda collapsed in February, keeping only 4.9% of market, and falling in 8th place.

Looking at the last month performance for the top brands:

Volkswagen in 1st sold 3.822 units with a share of 18.0%, down 0.9 points of share from the previous month and 0.3 points from 2012. Year-to-date February sales were 9.066 with a share of 18.5%. Volkswagen held 8 models in the top 50 and the best 3 models in the rank, with the Golf as market leader.

Audi climbed to the 2nd position (3rd year-to-date) and was the leader of the luxury segment, selling 1.540 units with a share of 7.3%, up 1.1 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 3.262 with a share of 6.7%. Audi held 4 models in the top 50, with the A3 jumped to the 7th position.

Ford jumped to the 3rd position (6th year-to-date) selling 1.330 units with a share of 6.3%, up 1.8 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.579 with a share of 5.3%. Ford held 5 models in the top 50, with the Focus flew in 16th position.

Hyundai rose to the 4th position (5th year-to-date) selling 1.275 units with a share of 6.0%, up 1.0 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.668 with a share of 5.4%. The i30 flew to the 6th position.

Renault climbed to the 5th position (7th year-to-date) selling 1.234 units with a share of 5.8%, up 1.0 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.558 with a share of 5.2%. The best-selling model was the Clio rose in 5th position.

Looking at the top selling models, the Volkswagen Golf in 1st sold 1.145 units with a share of 5.4%, up 0.4 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.522 with a share of 5.2%.

The Polo was 2nd (4th in January) selling 714 units with a share of 3.4%, up 0.4 points from the previous month, followed by the Tiguan in 3rd (5th in January ) with 572 sales and a share of 2.7%, up 0.2 points from the previous month.

The Qashqai climbed to the 4th position (18th in January) selling 539 units with a share of 2.5%, up 1.3 points from the previous month, followed by the Clio in 5th (25th in January) with 420 sales and a share of 2.0%, up 0.9 points from the previous month.

The Hyundai i30 was 6th, up 17 spots, selling 414 units with a share of 2.0%, up 0.8 points from the previous month, followed by the Audi A3 in 7th, up 9 spots, with 396 sales and a share of 1.9%, up 0.6 points from January, and by the Fabia in 8th, down 5 spots, with 389 sales and a share of 1.8%, down 2.1 points from the previous month.

Behind, it was a positive month for the Kia Cee’d in 10th, up 28 spots from January, for the Audi A4 in 11th, up 22 spots, for the Ford Focus in 16th, up 23 spots, and for the Ford Fiesta in 22nd, up 23 spots from the previous month.

It was a negative month for the Octavia in 13th, down 11 spots from January, for the Skoda Octavia in 14th, down 7 spots, for the Volkswagen Touran in 24th, down 15 spots, and for the Volkswagen Sharan in 32nd, down 24 spots from the previous month.
