Austrian Cars Market reported a steady growth during all the 2016, keeping the positive pace started in the previous year. A German feud, the market is dominated by Volkswagen and Skoda models, with the Golf over all.

During the 2016 the Austrian car passenger’s market was moderately positive keeping the rend started in the previous year. The market is almost stable and mature and also during the 2008-2009 financial crisis has been one of the most resilient in Europe.

In the 20116 according to data released by the local Association of Car Manufacturers, total sales had been 329.604, up 6.8%. Similar trend reported for the light vehicles segment, with annual sales at 39.468, up 9.6%.

The country is dominated by German brands and the leader was again Volkswagen with 56.529 sales (+%5.9) and 17.3% of market share. Opel was second with 22.545 units (+3.1%) ahead of Skoda with 20.930 (-0.4%), Audi with 19.644 sales (+14.7%), Ford with 19.274 (+11.6%) and BMW with 19.218 (+15.9%).

As far as the best-selling models performance, the Volkswagen Golf confirmed the first place with 15.777 sales (-11.0%) followed by the Skoda Octavia with 8.693 (+7.7%), the Volkswagen Tiguan with 8.500 (+35.0%), the Volkswagen Polo with 7.650 (-1.4%) and the Skoda Fabia with 6.191 units (-7.5%).
