Bahrain car market was booming 50% at September 2012. Toyota Land Cruiser on top.

Strong economic increase, low unemployment, reforms in the social state and the still low circulating car park are the combined factors behind an impressive growth that this market is performing since early 2010, recovering from the thought 2009 fall.

In September car sold were 3.997, up 27.7% and year-to-date September sales were 34.429, up 50.4% from last year. The full year is now projected around 45.000 units, the second best year ever.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Toyota was the market leader, selling 1.277 units with a share of 31.9%, down 5.7 points of share from August. Year-to-date September sales were 13.136 with a share of 38.2%. Toyota held 4 models in the top 5, particularly the Land Cruiser, 1st, and the Prado, 2nd.

Nissan in 2nd sold 660 units with a share of 16.5%, up 0.6 points of share from the previous month. Year-to- date sales were 4.705 with a share of 13.7%. Nissan Altima was 3rd this month, while the Sunny was 7th.

Hyundai was 3rd, with 519 sales and a share of 13.0%, up 1.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.065 with a share of 11.8%. The best-selling model was the Elantra in 6th, followed by the Accent in 9th.

Kia was 4th, selling 194 units with a share of 4.9%, down 2.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-dare sales were 2.221 with a share of 6.5%. The best-selling model was the Rio, 14th this month.

Mitsubishi in 5th sold 172 vehicles for a share of 4.3%, up 1.5 points from August. Year-to-dare sales were 1.241 with a share of 3.6%. Mitsubishi L200 was 12th this month.

Looking at the best-selling models, the Land Cruiser was the leader, with 259 units and a share of 6.5%, up 0.3 points of share from August. Year-to-date sales were 3.001 with a share of 8.7%.

Toyota Prado was 2nd only for 12 units, with 247 sales and a share of 6.2%, down 1.9 points from the previous month. In 3rd we found the Nissan Altima (12th year-to-date) that sold 201 units with a share of 5.0%, up 2.6 points from August.

Toyota Corolla was 4th, with 183 units and a share of 4.6%, up 1.2 points, followed by the Hiluz with 143 units and a share of 3.6%, and by Hyundai Elantra( 9th year-to-date) with 140 units and a share of 3.5%, up 2.0 points from the previous month.

Behind, it was a good month for the Mitsubishi L200, that jumped to the 12th position (59th last month and 36 YTD) with 71 sales and a share of 1.8%, and for the Hyundai Santa Fe, climbed to 13th position (66th last month and 46th YTD) with 68 sales and 1.7% of share.
