Bahrain: Toyota is near 40% of market share. Best-selling Brands ranking.

Total light passenger vehicles sold in the country in September were 4.245, up 6.2% from the previous year in line with first half performance. Cumulated sales in first nine months of the year were 38.213, up 11.0% from last year, anticipating the achievement of a new all-time record volume for the entire year.

The market is heavily concentrated with three players, Toyota, Nissan and Hyundai keeping over 60% of total sales. Their dominance in terms of customer portfolio, dealer network, reputation and model line-up is allowing them to keep the most of growing market demand.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Toyota as always was the Lion of market and in September, with 1.677 sales, was able to further improve an already outstanding market share, now at 39.5%, up 3.6 points from first half, with year to date sales at 13.724 units or 35.9% of total market. Toyota models dominate the ranking with 12 models in the top 25, with Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux and Corolla on the top.

Nissan was second with a great performance and the 775 sales were the 18.3% of the market, up 2.0 points from the already very positive first half. Year to date sale were 6.719 with a share of 17.6%, up 4.0 points from the previous year.

Hyundai was third and among the three market leaders the only losing share, with 485 sales, at 11.4%, down 0.8 points from first half. Year to date sales were 4.533 with a share of 11.9%, down 0.2 points from 2012.

Kia was fourth with 177 sales and 4.2% of share, with cumulated figures at 2.219 or 5.8% of share, down 0.5 points from last year.

Mitsubishi was fifth selling 147 units in November and 1.319 year to date, with share at 3.5%.

Ford was sixth, selling 144 units with a share of 3.4%. During the first nine months Ford sold 1.349 vehicles with a share of 3.5%, up 0.9 points from the previous year.
