In 2014 Belarus Vehicle Market hit again the all-time record according to the official sales report. Renault jump on top of the list among brands while Geely smash the leadership among models.

In the Full Year 2014 according to data released by the Belarussian Bureau of statistics, new Light Passenger Vehicles sold in Belarus have been 29.544, up 2.5% compared with the 2013 and posting a new “official” all time record.

However, official data on the market are subject to the huge level of grey market from un-official dealers that import vehicles from Russia. It seems that over 30.000 vehicles had been imported in the 2014 (sales officially inside the Russian sales statistics).

In the last month, the market was fueled by growing discount on imported vehicles from Russia while the economic environment deteriorated reducing the consumer’s demand and the 2015 is projected at a fall in the range of 15%.

Commenting data for brands, groups and models is a pure exercise, having in mind that the real market is almost the double than the “official” and could not be the real representation of consumer’s orientation.

However, we have to report that market leader in 2014 was Renault with 4.500 sales (+25.8%) thanks to the introduction of models made by Dacia.

Second was Volkswagen with 3.632 units (-7.2%) losing the leadership kept in the 2013, followed by Kia with 2.438 units (+1.3%).

As far as the car group’s performance and ranking, the December leader was Renault-Nissan with 27.9% of market share, ahead of Volkswagen with 19.5% and Hyundai-Kia with 11.4%.

As far as best-selling models ranking, the Geely SC7 was on top with 2.476 (+55.9%), followed by Volkswagen Polo with 2.247 (+10.7%) units and Renault Sandero with 1.644 (+14.6%).
