Best Selling Cars Worldwide in April 2015 led by a fast growing Toyota Corolla, ahead of Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. Chevrolet Equinox among the fastest growing. See the Top 100 models ranking, sales and trend.

Light Vehicles Sales Data

During the first four-month 2015, the Global Light Passengers Vehicles (cars plus light commercial vehicles) global market grew only 2.0% from the correspondent period in the previous year with total sales at 29.4 million units, up only half a million vehicles from the 2014.  April growth (not fully consolidated) was only 1.6% .

The full year 2015 is projected positive again and should hit the 6th all time record in a row. After first quarter, our panelist have reviewed up the forecast and now volume is at 90.1 million units.

Best-Selling Cars

Toyota Corolla kept growing with 113.065 registrations in the single month of April, up 8.3% from last year and with an impressive trend with year to date up 10.4% compared with the record volume scored in the 2014. At this pace Toyota will sell over 1.35 million Corolla this year!

The second place of Volkswagen Golf is almost a fact like the rapid speed of the German model. April sales were 87.232, up 8.4% with cumulative sales at +18.1%.  Ford Focus was third with 78.840 units (-12.5%) ahead of Ford F Series with 75.473 (+0.3%), Hyundai Elantra with 69.635 (+1.4%) and Toyota Camry with 59.517 (-10.8%).

Honda CR-V in seventh confirmed leadership among SUVs with 58.058 sales (-7.7%) while the Volkswagen Polo was the best B class model with 56.838 units (+22.9%) with a wide gap over the follower, the Ford Fiesta, only 14th with 48.956 units (-21.1%).

Chevrolet Silverado joined the top 10 with 51.347 sales (+7.0%).

BMW Series 3 in 24th place was the best premium model with 37.164 sales while the second, the Mercedes C Class ranked 34th with 30.656 sales.

Among the fastest growing models, the Mazda3 advancing in 27th place with an amazing +37.4%, the Chevrolet Equinox in 31st with sales up 35.9%, the Nissan X-Trail in 48th with 25.475 sales, +38.3%), the Hyundai i20 in 49th up 73.8%, Kia Sorento in 69th, up 42.8%, the Chrysler 200 in 74th, up 327% and the Ford Transit in 84th, up 203%.
