China: car market boomed 16% in first half 2013. Volkswagen dominates.

China car market statistics on June sales reported by CAAM informed about a total light passengers volume at 1.720.000 units, up 10.2% from last year. Year-to-date sales were 12.157.937, up 16.0%.

Car Passengers sales were 1.319.000, up 10.0% with cumulated figures at 7.988.000, while Light commercial vehicles sales were 400.713, up 4.0%, with year-to-date volume at 2.709.000, up 23.3%

Looking at the best brands performance:

Volkswagen in 1st sold 206.173 vehicles with a share of 11.4%, down 0.3 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date June sales were 1.236.781 with a share of 12.0%.Volkswagen held 10 models in the top 50, with the Lavida in 3rd position, first among car passengers.

Wuling was 2nd, selling 105.475 units with a share of 6.7%, down 1.3 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 786.960 with a share of 6.1%. Wuling held 3 models in the top 50, with the Sunshine as market leader.

ChangAn was 3rd, posting a negative month with 89.889 sales and a share of 4.5%, down 1.1 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 540.585 with a share of 5.2%. ChangAn held 3 models in the top 50, with the Mini Bus in 2nd position.

Hyundai was 4th selling 87.593 vehicles with a share of 4.9%, up 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 519.687 with a share of 5.1%. The best-selling model was the ix35 in 29th position.

Toyota was 5th (6th year-to-date) selling 74.356 units with a share of 4.1%, up 0.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 409.080 with a share of 4.3%. The top model was the Corolla in 5th position.

Nissan was 6th (8th year-to-date) selling 68.271 units with a share of 3.9%, up 1.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 362.427 with a share of 4.0%. The Sylphy was 16th.

Buick was 7th selling 61.670 units with a share of 3.6%, down 0.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 400.924 with a share of 3.6%. The Excelle was 10th.

Chevrolet was 8th (9th year-to-date) selling 60.784 vehicles with a share of 3.3%, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 360.268 with a share of 3.5%. The Sail was 8th.

Honda climbed to the 9th position (10th year-to-date) selling 58.504 units with a share of 3.4%, up 0.9 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 314.428 with a share of 3.4%. The top model was the CR-V in 19th position.

Dongfeng fell to the 10th position (5th year-to-date) selling 56.412 units with a share of 3.6%, down 0.5 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 412.900 with a share of 3.3%. The best-selling model was the Mini Bus in 14th position.

Wuling Sunshine was the market leader with 40.077 units and a share of 2.3%, down 0.5 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 260.826 with a share of 2.4%.

ChangAn Mini Bus was 2nd, up 9 spots from May, with 34.023 units and a share of 2.0%, up 0.7 points from the previous month, followed by Ford Focus in 3rd, up 5 spots, with 31.499 sales and a share of 1.8%, up 0.2 points from the previous month.

Wuling Hongguang was 4th, up 5 spots, with 29.051 sales and a share of 1.7%, up 0.2 points from the previous month, followed by Toyota Corolla in 5th with 27.236 sales and a share of 1.6%, stable from May, and by Volkswagen Lavida in 6th with 25.610 units and a share of 1.5%, down 0.2 points from the previous month.

Foton Forland was 7th with 25.313 sales and a share of 1.5%, down 0.2 points from the previous month, followed by Chevrolet Sail in 8th, up 4 spots, with 25.011 units and a share of 1.5%, up 0.3 points from the previous month.
