Czech Republic Car Market fell 9% in April 2013. Skoda was back at 30%.

Enveloped by the European economic recession, the Czech car market fell again in April, when sales dropped 9.4% from the previous year. The data was a bit better than the previous quarter. Skoda recovered the 30% of market share, while Fiat tumbled down at 1.2%.

In April 2013 the Czech Republic car market posted again a deep loss with 15.061 sales, down 9.4% from last year. In the first four months, sales were 51.514, down 14.5%. However, the market is projected to stabilize in the second half of the year, with a full year loss between 5 and 8%.

Looking at the top brands performance:

Skoda in 1st recovered position after the previous, negative, month selling 4.526 vehicles with a share of 30.1%, up 3.2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date April sales were 15.084 with a share of 29.3%. Skoda held 7 models in the top 50, with the Octavia as market leader.

Hyundai was 2nd (3rd year-to-date) selling 1.532 units with a share of 10.2%, stable from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.113 with a share of 9.9%. Hyundai held 5 models in the top 50, with the i30 in 5th position.

Volkswagen was 3rd ( 2nd year-to-date) selling 1.455 units with a share of 9.7%, down 0.3 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.319 with a share of 10.3%. Volkswagen held 4 models in the top 50, with the Golf in 4th position.

Ford was 4th selling 744 units with a share of 4.9%, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.598 with a share of 5.0%. The best-selling model was the Fiesta in 16th position.

Peugeot was 5th selling 667 vehicles with a share of 4.4%, up 0.1 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.314 with a share of 4.5%. The top model was the 308 in 15th position.

Looking at the top selling models, Skoda Octavia in 1st sold 1.775 units with a share of 11.8%, up 3.5 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.578 with a share of 10.8%.

The Fabia was 2nd selling 970 units with a share of 6.4%, up 0.3 points from the previous month, followed by the Rapid in 3rd with 574 sales and a share of 3.8%, down 0.9 points from the previous month.

The Golf was 4th selling 519 units with a share of 3.4%, down 0.1 points from the previous month, followed by the Hyundai i30 in 5th with 441 sales and a share of 2.9%, up 0.4 points from the previous month, and by the ix20 in 6th with 378 sales and a share of 2.5%, down 0.1 points from March.

The i20 was 7th selling 349 units with a share of 2.3%, down 0.3 points from the previous month, followed by the Skoda Superb in 8th with 315 sales and a share of 2.1%, stable from March.
