Czech Republic Car sales down 6% in January 2013. Skoda Rapid jumped in third.

In January car sales were 12.071, down 6.6%. However, 2013 projection are stable at the 2012 level, thanks to a relatively strong economy and the automotive sector dominance in the industrial sector.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Skoda leaded with 3.655 sales and a share of 30.3%, up 0.4 points of share from the previous month. The domestic producer added to its top models the Rapid, surged in third place from the 42nd. However, Octavia and Fabia were stable on top of the market.

Volkswagen confirmed its momentum and the second place in the market, with 1.279 sales and a share of 10.6%, up 0.9 points of share from the previous month and 1.9 points from Full Year 2012. The top model was again the Golf, now soared in 4th place.

Hyundai was third with 1.128sales and 9.3% of share, down 0.1 points from the previous month while up 0.6 points from Full Year 2012. The top model was the i30 5rd this month while the ix20 surged in 6th from 10th.

Citroen advanced in 4th place, up 4 spots, with 651 units and 5.4% of share, up 2.7 points from the previous month. The top model was the Berlingo in 24th place.

Renault was 5th, selling 643 units with a share of 5.3%, down 0.2 points of share from the previous month and 0.7 points from Full Year 2012. The top models were Thalia and Megane, in 16th and 17th place.

Ford was 6th, down 2 spots, with 539 vehicles and a share of 4.5%, down 1.8 points from the previous month and 2.8 points from Full Year 2012. The top model was the Fiesta, dropped in 14th place.

Kia was 7th with 425 units and a share of 3.5%, down 0.7 points from the previous month. This month was really negative for the Korean, which posted one of the worst share performance of last three years.

Peugeot was 8th with 420 units and a share of 3.5%, up 0.3 from the previous month. The top model was the 208 in 24th place from the 48th.

Looking at the best models, Skoda Octavia recovered a share above 13% after fourth month. Sales were 1.640.

The Skoda Fabia was 2nd again, with 807 sales and 6.7% of share, down 1.6 points from the previous month, followed by Skoda Rapid, surged in 3rd from the 42nd place, with 405 sales and a share of 3.4%, up 1.6 points from the previous month.

The Golf was 4th with 373 units and 3.1% of share, followed by Hyundai i30, with 336 units and Hyundai ix20, with 255, 6th from 10th.

Volkswagen Passat was 7th from 11th, while Skoda Superb in 8th was down 4 spots. Hyundai i20 was 9th from 14th and Skoda Yeti was 10th from 6th.

Behind, remarkable the Mazda CX-5 jump in 18th place from the 95th, as Logan in 26th from 40th and the Citroen C4 Picasso in 32nd from 130th.
