Europe: Light Vehicle Sales Summary. October 2013 performance by brand.

Thanks to its database and the network of local correspondents, focus2move.com is now able to release sales data for the entire Europe, from Portugal to Ukraine. The countries included are not only those inside the European Community – as released by ACEA association – but also others, such as Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

October 2013 was the second positive month in a row for the whole European light passenger vehicles market with a total of 1.488.309 vehicles sold, a little while significant 1.9% of increase from October last year. With this performance the year to date figures was 14.757.000, down 3.0% from last year.

Looking at top brands performance in Light Vehicle (Cars + Light Commercial Vehicles) markets:

Volkswagen recovered quota 11% lost in the Q3 selling 168.224 units with a share of 11.3%. Year to date sales were 1.648.236 with a share of 11.2%, down 0.1 points from full year 2012.

Renault was the Winner of the Month, overtaking Ford and advancing in second place with over 116.000 sales and a share climbed at 7.8%. The surprise is that the French brand this month was weak in France, while very strong in Germany, Italy, Spain and others. Renault outpaced Ford also in the year to date ranking.

Ford in third sold over 100.000 units but has lost 0.3 points of share from the previous quarter. Year to date Ford sold 1.050.000 vehicles but was behind Renault for 4.000 units.

Peugeot was pushed by a great performance in France and Germany and sold over 80.000 units ranking 4th and outpacing Opel. Market share recovered at 5.4%, up 0.5 points from Q3 2013 and was back at full year 2012 level.

Opel in fifth place sold 76.624 with a share of 5.2%, down 0.5 points from Q3 2013. Year to date sales were 842.966 with 5.7% of share, flat from last year.

Citroen soared in 6th from 10th recovery the awful September performance and being back in its current position with a “normal” share of 4.6%, up 0.4 points from September, while aligned with first half.

Toyota was 7th with 65.671 sales and share flat at 4.4%. Year to date Toyota was 11th with 618.031 units and a share of 4.2%, up 0.1 points from last year.

Mercedes was 8th with 63.397 units and share at 4.3%, down 0.3 points from third quarter. Year to date sales were 643.260 with share at 4.4%, up 0.4 points from last year.

Audi was 9th selling 62.894 units with a share of 4.2%, down 0.1 points Q3 2013. Year to date Audi was 9th as well with 636.914 sales and a share of 4.3%, up 0.1 points from FY 2012.

Fiat was 10th, up 3 spots, with 58.556 sales and share flat at 3.9%. Year to date Fiat was 8th with 640.411. However Audi and Mercedes could overtake it before the end of the year.
