Finland: Volkswagen shines in September in a car market up only 1%.

Accordingly with data released by Autotuojlat, the Association of automotive importers in Finland, in September 2013 the new cars sold in Finland had been 8.139, up 1.8% from last year, only a little recover in the yearly performance. Indeed, cumulate 2013 sales were 80.745, down 9.2% from last year

In the incredible fight for the leadership, Volkswagen recovered space on Toyota, selling 78 more vehicles and being back number 1. Among models, Skoda Octavia was rewarded for a great progression, keeping the leadership.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Volkswagen recovered the leadership, selling 948 vehicles with a share of 11.6%, up 1.8 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date September sales were 9.837 with a share of 12.3%, down 0.2 points from 2012. Volkswagen held 2 models in the top 25, with the Golf in 3rd position.

Toyota in 2nd posted a negative month, selling 870 units with a share of 10.7%, down 2.0 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 9.608 with a share of 12.0%. Toyota kept 3 models in the top 25, with Auris in 4th position.

Skoda advanced in 3rd place, selling 787 units with a share of 9.7%, up 1.8 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 6.184 with a share of 7.7%, down 0.1 points from 2012. Skoda held 2 models in the top 25, with the Octavia as market leader.

Volvo recovered to the 4th position, up 5 spots from August, selling 670 vehicles with a share of 8.2%, up 3.7 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.264 with a share of 6.6%. The top model was the V40 in 5th position.

Kia fell to the 5th position, losing 2 spots from August, with 539 sales and a share of 6.6%, down 1.7 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.030 with a share of 6.3%. The best-selling model was the Cee’d in 7th position.

Skoda Octavia was the market leader, with 515 sales and a share of 6.3%, up 1.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 3.289 with a share of 4.1%.

Nissan Qashqai was 2nd, up 1 spot, with 409 units and a share of 5.0%, up 1.0 points from the previous month, followed by Volkswagen Golf in 3rd, up 1 spot, with 403 sales and a share of 5.0%, up 1.3 points from the previous month.

Toyota Auris was 4th, down 3 spots from August, with 300 units and a share of 3.7%, down 1.6 points from the previous month, followed by Volvo V40 in 5th, up 12 spots, with 214 sales and a share of 2.6%, up 1.2 points from August, and by BMW 3 Series in 6th, up 7 spots, with 193 sales and a share of 2.4%, up 0.5 points from the previous month.
