Hungarian Automotive Industry recovers 20% in the 2014 scoring the fourth annual increase in a string. However the market is far one third from the record hit ten years ago.
In December 2014 according to data released by MGSZ – Magyar Gépjármű Szövetség, the Hungarian Associations of Car Manufacturers, total new Car Passengers sold in Hungary have been 6.079, up 21.0% compared with the correspondent month last year.
Full Year 2014 sales in Hungary have been 64.463, a robust -+20.2% compared 2013, the fourth annual increase in a string.
Hungarian automotive industry is recovering despite it stands very far from the record hit in the 2005 at 198.000 cars. At current level is in the 58th global positon while ten years ago was near the 30th place.
In December carmakers many have reported a sales rush with an astonishing performance by the market leader, Opel, with sales at 1.273 units, up 230.6%. The Full Year sales for Opel had been 10.195 (+65.8%) with market share at 15.1%.
The other American, Ford, scored a positive year as well ending with 468 sales in December and advancing in second place in the full year ranking, one spot ahead from 2013, with 8.497 units.
Volkswagen was third with 7.111 units, up one spot from 2013.
The loser was Skoda, fourth and down 2 spots, with 6.901 sales.
As far as the car group’s performance and ranking, the December leader was Volkswagen Group with 31.8% of market share followed by GM at 20.9% and Renault-Nissan at 15.4%.
As far as best-selling models ranking, the Skoda Octavia was again on top with 3.968 annual sales (+25.2%) ahead of Ford Focus with 2.590 (+20.6%) and Suzuki SX4 with 2.285 units (+38.5%),
