India Vehicle Sales Summary March 2015 confirms the growth of Mercedes that after two years took back the leadership among premium brands overtaking Audi, while BMW is struggling.

In March 2015 according to data collected by Focus2move Research Team through local operators and SIAM, the Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers, total new Car Passengers sold in India have been 244.129, up 3.3% from the correspondent month last year. The last was the 5th Y.o.Y. growing month in a row.

First Quarter 2015 sales have been 707.268, up 5.5%.

Maruti Suzuki’s sales had been again above the 100k despite the grow was the lower in the last half and the share declined at 42.5% while the follower, Hyundai, kept the momentum growing again in double-digit at 39.525 units.

In the third step of the podium, Honda accelerated sales with 22.696 registrations (+23.2%) outpacing Mahindra in the month and in the quarter.

Indeed, Mahindra ended the fiscal year with low sales at20.222 units (-13.7%) with the entire quarter negative.

The recovery of Tata following  the 2014 sales collapse went on in March with sales at 15.039 (+19.0%) while the roaring performance was posted by Toyota, 6th with 13.333 units, +62.5%.

Behind, several brands had shown difficulties with Ford down 17.4%, Renault down 19.5%, Chevrolet -42.9%, Nissan 43.2%, Skoda -12.1% and Fiat -50.0%.

After a neck-and-neck race that lasted two years, Mercedes-Benz is back at the top of the heap in the Indian luxury car market. In the January-March 2015 period, Mercedes-Benz has 3,566 units compared to Audi’s 3,181 units in the same period, which makes Mercedes-Benz the leader in the luxury car market ousting Audi from the top spot for the quarter.
As far as the Best Car Group, as always the leader was Suzuki/Maruti with 42.5% of market share, ahead of Hyundai Group with 16.2% and Honda with 9.3%.

As far as Best-selling Models, the Maruti Alto led the list with 24.961 sales (+7.4%), followed by Dzire with 17.971 units (+4.3%) and Swift with 6.722 (-13.4%).

Again an astonishing performance by Hyundai i20 (5th with 12.812 sales, +190.8%). Others fast-moving models were Hyundai i10 Grand (8th with 8.856 sales, +101.0%), Toyota Innova (12th with 5.851, +81.0%) and Hyundai Xcent (17th with 4.500, +162.2%).
