Indonesia Cars Market in Q3 2016 hybrid-toyota-cars

Indonesia Cars Market was moderately up in the third quarter, sustained by mild economic growth. Toyota retained the first place monopolizing the podium with Avanza, Innova and Agya.

Market Outlook

Indonesia’s mild growth uptick likely continued in Q3, after GDP expanded at the fastest pace since Q4 2013 in the second quarter. Recent high frequency data have been positive: the manufacturing PMI rose in September and retail sales returned to double-digit growth in August. Moreover, signs of stabilization continue to emerge from the external sector and the trade surplus rose to a nearly two-year high in September.

In line with the economic trend, the domestic automotive industry is growing moderately and the trend was unchanged during the third quarter.

According to data released by the GAIKINDO, the Indonesian Associations of Car Manufacturers, in July and August registered respectively 62.581 units (+12.5%) 96.294 and (+6.4%) followed by 93.136 (+0.1%) in September.

Year to date September the sales figures had been 783.958, up 2.5%.

Competitive Arena

Year to date September, Toyota led the ranking with 232.574 sales (+35.0%) and 29.7% of market share. Honda was second with 151.849 units (+25.2%) ahead of Daihatsu with 133.556 (+8.6%), Mitsubishi with 73.904 (-15.2%) and Suzuki with 67.771 (-26.5%).

As far as the Car Groups performance, the leader was Toyota Group with 54.2% of market share, ahead of Honda with 19.4%, Mitsubishi with 9.4% and Suzuki with 8.6%.

As far as the best-selling models performance, the Toyota Avanza led the competition with 91.284 sales (-9.3%) followed by the Toyota Innova with 44.600 (+28.3%), the Toyota Agya with 36.029 (-12.8%), the Honda BR-V with 34.297 and the Daihatsu Xenia with 32.445 (+17.0%).
