Irish Vehicle Market surged 30% in first nine months of 2014.

Irish Vehicle Market is fast recovering surging 30% in the first nine months of 2014 pushed by a strong recovery of national economy. Volkswagen Group leads the competition albeit losing share challenged by Nissan-Renault group.

In September 2014 according to data released by S.I.M.I. the Society of Irish Car Manufacturers, total new Car Passengers sold have been 3.916, up 23.3% from the correspondent month last year. The last was the 9th year-on year growing month in a row and reinforced the positive momentum gained by the market as consumer’s demand was restored by improved economic factors.

Year to date September sales have been 93.390, up 30.1% from year ago, a robust recovery after the sharp market fall followed at the 2008 financial crisis.

This year the market is projected at few units below the 100.000 sales while in 2007 is was above180.000.

Volkswagen kept leading the competition retailing 413 vehicles in September (11.282 year to date), just 3 more than Toyota and 23 more than Ford. BMW over performed jumping in 4th place.

Looking at Groups performance, Volkswagen is still leading with 879 sales and 22.4% of share in September albeit losing terrain from last year.

Second was the Renault-Nissan group with 481 sales followed by Hyundai Group with 467.

In the best-selling models ranking, Volkswagen Golf was still on top while losing share, followed by Ford Fiesta and Focus. The just launched Nissan Pulsar landed in 18th place.
