Korea Vehicles Market in May 2016 soared fast with an impressive +17% accelerating the already almost positive speed Renault Samsung overtook SsangYong in fourth place with a wonderful performance.

Market Outlook

Korean exports struggled and decelerated significantly in Q1 due to China’s slowdown. Recent data show that Korean industries continue to brace for tough times as industrial output was hit hard in April and the manufacturing PMI did not show any significant progress in May. Moreover, sentiment indicators suggest that morale among businesses and consumers remained weak in May.

Meantime, the automotive industry had recorded in May a great double-digit up, which was the best growth in percentage year to date. This month was the fourth in a row with positive trend, after the moderate January slow down.

According to data released by KAMA and KAIDA, the two South Korean Associations of Automotive Manufacturers, in May vehicle’s sales had been 165.285, growing 17.5%.

Year to date total registrations had been 746.518, up 7.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
