Peru car market statistics. Best-selling brands & models ranking.

Accordingly with data released by A.P.E.R., the Peruvian Car manufacturers Association, in September 2013 the light vehicle passengers sold in Peru were 15.728, down 6.0% from the previous year. Year to date sales were 138.010, with an n increase of 10.6% from year ago.

Following an entire decade of growing volumes, Peru market is going to post another all-time record this year. While the numbers of carmakers operating in the market is huge with a wide numbers of Chinese players arrived fighting with the usual American, Japanese, Korean and European, this year the market share of top three brands is growing from last year.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Toyota overall performance this year is stable although in September sales at 2.752 units were only the 17.5% of market share, down 2.6 points from August. However, year to date sales were 27.881 with 20.2% of share, up 0.3 points from last year. Toyota placed two models in Top Ten, with Hilux market leader and Toyota ranked in 8th.

Hyundai was stable in second place selling 2.155 vehicles with a share of 13.7%, up 0.4 points of share from the previous month. Year to date sales were 20.446 with a share of 14.8%, up 0.1 points from 2012. The best-selling model was the Accent ranked sixth while the i10 was 9th.

Kia was third with 1.751 sales and 11.1% of share, up 0.5 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 16.577 with a share of 12.0%, up 1.3 points from last year. Kia placed three models in top ten, with Picanto 4th, Rio 5th and Sportage 10th.

Chevrolet was fourth with 1.412 vehicles sold and 9.0% of market share, down 1.1 points from August. Year to date sales were 14.963 with a share of 10.9%, up 0.4 points from last year. Two models in top ten, with Sail ranked third and Spark seventh.

Nissan was fifth with 1.126 sales and 7.2% of share, up 0.7 points from August while stable from first half. Year to date sales were 9.414 with a share of 6.8%, down 2.7 points from last year. Nissan is the Loser of the Year for this deep loss in share.
