Poland Car Sales in Q1 2016 up in double-digit at best quarter ever. Fueled by solid economic fundamentals the market is keeping the momentum and the last year record is followed by further growth.

Market Outlook

Solid economic fundamentals, although political uncertainty, continued to propel strong increase and supported Polish automotive industry which is advancing successfully and the all time record scored in the 2015 was followed by a still strong first quarter 2016, reported up in double-digit and projecting the year with a positive outlook.

According to data released by the SAMAR, the local association of car distributors, new car passenger’s sold in January were 31.796 sales (+7.2%), followed by a strong February with 33.663 (+18.5%) and March with 39.229 units (+16.5%). In total, first quarter sales had been 104.688 in Q1, 14.2% up compared to the same period last year.

Competitive Arena

In first first quarter Skoda sold 13.205 (+7.3%) with market share at 12.7%, followed by Toyota with 11.498 units (+16.7%), Volkswagen with 10.396 sales (+18.4%), Opel with 8.464 (+5.2%) and Ford with 7.224 (+13.1%). Others great score were posted by Dacia (+40.8%), Audi (+52.9%) and Volvo (+81.6%).

Volkswagen dominated the performance by group with market share at 27.4%, followed by Renault-Nissan with 12.6%, Toyota with 11.6%, Hyundai-Kia with 9.5% and General Motors with 8.1%.

The best-selling model ranking was managed by the Skoda Octavia with 4.245 sales (+11.0%), ahead to the Skoda Fabia with 4.036 (+51.4%) and the Opel Astra with 3.466 (+45.8%).
