Poland Cars Sales in the 2017 has been one of the most dynamic in Europe, improving 13% and hitting the new all time record, fueled by strong expansion of economic activity and falling unemployment rate. On top of the list Skoda and Toyota marked a solid score.

Polish economic activity continued to expand at a strong pace in Q4, following a buoyant Q3. In November retail sales recorded another noteworthy year-on-year increase, as wages continued to post robust annual growth and the unemployment rate fell further. Moreover, in the same month industrial production expanded at a strong rate over the same period last year, and in December the PMI hit an almost-three-year high, suggesting the manufacturing sector continues to fire on all cylinders.

Polish Vehicles market is characterized by a large used vehicles market and, unique in Europe, by a strong import of “fresh” used vehicles mainly arriving from Germany. However, in recent years, the research for lower emission vehicles and the increased income available for spending in mobility, have generated a strong demand for new cars boosting the market from 384.000 in the 20112 to a record of 430.000 in the 2016.

According to data released by the local Association of Car Distributors, in the 2017 the market was one of the most positive in the entire Europe, hitting the new all time record with 489.190 new car passenger’s sales (+13.5%) and 62.621 light commercial vehicles (+5.1%).

Brand-wise, Skoda was again market leader with 62.164 sales (+18.3%) with 12.7% of market share and was followed by Toyota with 50.825 units (+23.7%), Volkswagen with 49.102 (+11.4%), Opel with 36.049 (+3.0%), Ford with 29.474 (-4.1%), Renault with 27.995 (+9.0%) and Kia with 22.873 (+17.1%).

At model wise, the number one so far was the Skoda Fabia with 18.897 (+22.6%) having just overtaken the Skoda Octavia, second with 18.856 sales (+11.6%). In third place the Opel Astra with 15.493 (+4.5%) followed by the Volkswagen Golf with 13.299 (+5.5%) and the Toyota Yaris with 12.560 (+10.0%).
