Polish Car Market slipped 3% in March ’13. Toyota Yaris market leader.

Total cars sold in March 2013 in Poland were 28.584 sales, down 3.5%, with the first quarter ended with 79.172 sales, up 1.7%. Skoda, the market leader, lost share as all its main products suffered, while Toyota advanced in third place, behind Volkswagen, pushed up by Yaris strong sales momentum.

Behind it were remarkable the performance posted by Fiat, 8th with share up 1.2% points from the previous month, Mercedes, 15th, with share up 1.3 points and Mazda, 22nd beating with 1.2% its all-time record share in this market.

Looking at Top Brands performance in the last month:

Skoda in 1st sold 2.836 vehicles, with a share of 9.9%, down 1.2 points of share from the previous month and 0.3 from the last quarter of 2012. Year-to-date March sales were 9.696 with a share of 12.3%. Skoda held 6 models in the top 50, with the Fabia in 2nd position.

Volkswagen was 2nd selling 2.663 units with a share of 9.3%, up 0.2 points of share from the previous month and 0.4 from the last quarter of 2012. Year-to-date sales were 7.418 with a share of 9.4%. Volkswagen held 5 models in the top 50, with the Golf in 5th position.

Toyota flew to the 3rd position, selling 2.582 units with a share of 9.0%, up 2.3 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 6.168 with a share of 7.8%. Toyota held 4 models in the top 50, with the Yaris as market leader.

Ford fell to the 4th, selling 1.770 units with a share of 6.2%, down 1.9 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.438 with a share of 6.9%. The best-selling model was the Focus in 4th position.

Kia was 5th, selling 1.674 units with a share of 5.9%, down 1.2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.230 with a share of 6.6%. The top model was the Sportage in 9th position.

Looking at the top models, the Toyota Yaris was the market leader, selling 898 units with a share of 3.1%, up 0.5 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.206 with a share of 2.8%.

The Fabia was 2nd selling 819 units with a share of 2.9%, down 0.3 points from the previous month, followed by the Auris in 3rd, up 13 spots from February, with 797 sales and a share of 2.8%, up 1.0 points from the previous month.

The Focus was 4th, up 3 spots from February, selling 796 units with a share of 2.8%, up 0.3 points from the previous month, followed by the Golf in 5th, down 5 spots from February, with 772 sales with a share of 2.7%, up 0.6 points from the previous month, and by the Octavia in 6th, down 5 spots from February, with 759 sales and a share of 2.7%, down 0.8 points from the previous month.

The Astra was 7th selling 714 units with a share of 2.5%, down 0.1 points from the previous month, followed by the Qashqai in 8th, up 4 spots from February, with 543 sales and a share of 1.9%, down 0.2 points from the previous month.

The Sportage was 9th, down 3 spots from February, selling 533 units with a share of 1.9%, down 0.6 points from the previous month, followed by the Cee’d in 10th, up 3 spots from February, with 497 sales and a share of 1.7%, down 0.3 points from the previous month.
