The renaissance of Myanmar just started and the development of the automotive sector is a fundamental factor on the new pathway. The import of any kind of vehicles was not allowed until 2012 while new vehicles import was banned until 2013. The shift was made possible by the 2011 reforms accompanying the country’s shift from military to democratic rule. In the last five year over half a million vehicles had been imported in the country with new vehicles counting less than 1%.
