Qatar: car market grew 17% in first half 2013. Hilux was again the king!

Following the sales boomed registered in 2012, Qatari light passengers vehicles market kept the pace in first half 2013, posting 50.170 sales, the best ever half year, growing 17% from year ago and projecting a whole year above 100.000 units, in line with focus2move forecast issued at the end of 2012.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Toyota was the market leader although in June sales were down, at only 2.170 units with a share of 27.3%, down 5.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date June sales were 17.109 with a share of 34.0%. Toyota held 6 models in the top 25, with the Hilux as market leader.

Nissan was 2nd selling 1.310 units in June with a share of 16.5%, up 0.6 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 7.913 with a share of 15.7%. Nissan held 6 models in the top 25, with the Sunny in 3rd position.

Hyundai maintained its 3rd position, selling 812 units with a share of 10.2%, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.562 with a share of 9.1%. Hyundai held 4 models in the top 25, with the Santa Fe in 4th position.

Ford climbed to the 4th position selling 401 vehicles with a share of 5.0%, up 0.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.363 with a share of 4.7%. The top model was the Expedition in 20th position.

Chevrolet was 5th selling 374 units with a share of 4.7%, up 0.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.058 with a share of 4.1%. The best-selling model was the Suburban in 25th position.

GMC was 6th selling 362 units with a share of 4.6%, up 0.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.857 with a share of 3.7%. The Sierra was 18th.

Lexus was 7th (8th year-to-date) selling 315 vehicles with a share of 4.0%, up 0.5 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.582 with a share of 3.1%.The Lx was 8th.

Looking at the top models, Toyota Hilux was the market leader, with 616 units and a share of 7.9%, down 2.0 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.703 with a share of 9.6%.

Toyota Land Cruiser was 2nd with 562 units and a share of 7.2%, down 2.6 points from the previous month, followed by Nissan Sunny in 3rd with 364 units and a share of 4.7%, down 1.1 points from May.

Hyundai Santa Fe was 4th with 329 units and a share of 4.2%, stable from the previous month, followed by Toyota Prado in 5th with 319 sales and a share of 4.1% down 0.5 points from the previous month, and by Nissan Patrol in 6th, up 3 spots, with 245 sales and a share of 3.2%, up 1.1 points from the previous month.
