Reunion Island new cars sales ended the first half positively projecting the third annual increase in a string. The market is dominated by French makers with Peugeot on top.

Market Outlook

During the first half of the 2016, the Reunion’s automotive sector collected a great sales trend. The growth has been in double-digit in February with 2.424 units (+15.0%), March with 2.716 (+20.7%) and May with 2.084 (+15.6%), while in January and April it was feeble respectively with 2.041 (+3.2%) and 2.394 (+2.4%). The trend slowed in June with 2.304 sales (-5.7%).

The total vehicles passengers sold in the first semester of the the year had been 13.963, improving 8.1%.

During this period of time, Peugeot confirmed the leadership with 2.918 sales  (+11.9%) and 20.9% of market share followed Renault was second with 2.774 units (+10.4%), Citroen with 960 (-17.9%), Dacia with 851 (+8.1%) and Volkswagen with 824 (+0.2%).
