Saudi Arab car market first half surged 15%. Toyota up & up!

The Saudi Arab car market confirmed in June to be one of world’s most solid industry and followed its track on the new all-time volume record. As reported in a recent research, in the first half of the year the Saudi Arab car market was the world’s 21th, surging two positions from full year 2011.

Focus2move.com forecast for the full year 2012 is for 660.000 sales, up 11.6% from previous year.

The market leader, the Japanese Toyota, in June performed another phenomenal month, with over 26.000 units and a share of 41.4%, up 1.3 from the previous month. Toyota is offering a large range of products, but the June improvement should be related to the king of the desert (the Hilux) share at 10%.

Hyundai was the second, with 10.825 sales and a share of 17.2%, down 0.9 points of share from the previous month.

Chevrolet confirmed its monthly 3rd position and further reduced the gap to Kia, that’s 3rd in the year to date ranking. The American sold 4.981 units with a market share of 7.9%, up 1.1 points from the previous month.

Kia was 4th with 3.365 sales with share dropped at 5.3%, down 1.4 points from the previous month, penalized by Rio underperformance.

Looking at the best models, the Toyota Hilux was at 10% market share, a really great performance for a single model! Second was the Corolla, with 4.427 sales and 7.0% of share, followed by the Hyundai Accent with 3.202 sales and 5.1% of share.

Corolla surpassed the Accent also in the year to date ranking.
