South Africa: Car Market Report. Best-selling 25 Brands and 50 Models.

Accordingly with data released by NAAMSA, the South African Automotive Manufacturers Association, South African light passenger’s vehicles market figures in November 2013 was of 47.982 units, down 5.2%, the fourth year-on-year decline in a row. Year to date sales were 572.245, up 2.9% from last year.

Car Passengers sales were 40.102, down 4% while LCV sales were 14.125, down 0.1%.

Looking at top brands performance in the last month:

Toyota boomed share above 20%, landing at 23.8% with 11.434 sales, 4.8 points up from October pushed up by Hilux, Etios and Fortuner demand. Year-to-date sales were above 112.378 with a share of 19.7%, down 0.9 points from full year 2012. Hilux was second, followed by the Etios in third place.

Volkswagen in second sold 6.140 units with a share of 12.8%, down up 0.3 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 84.698 with a share of 14.9%, down 0.1 points from FY 2012. The market star, Polo, kept leadership and the second model, Golf, advanced in 13th from 19th.

Ford in third sold 5.257 units recovering share 11.0%, up 1.2 points of share from October. Year-to-date sales were 53.294 with a share of 9.4%, up 2.4 points from last year. Top models were Ranger and Figo respectively 4th and 8th.

Chevrolet was fourth selling 3.071 units with a share of 6.4%, down 0.9 points from October. Year-to-date sales were 38.531 with a share of 6.8%, down 1.6 points from F.Y. 2012. Chevrolet is the Loser of the Year in this market. The best-selling model was LCV Utility ranked 6th.

Nissan was fifth selling 2.640 vehicles with share at 5.5%. Year-to-date sales were 44.710 with a share of 7.9%, down 1.2 points from FY 2012. The top model was the commercial vehicle NP200 ranked 11th.

Mercedes was sixth with 2.081 sales and 4.3% of share, up 0.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date Mercedes was seventh with 21.707 sales and 3.8% of share, down 0.7 points from last year. The top model C Class ranked 10th.

BMW was 7th selling 1.748 units with a share of 3.6%, down 0.4 points from October. Year-to-date sales were 23.792 with a share of 4.2%, down 0.1 points from last year. The top model was the 3 Series in 14th place.

Audi advanced in 8th with 1.502 sales and 3.1% of share, up 0.2 points. Year to date Audi was 8th with 18.013 units and 3.2% of share, up 0.3 points from last year.

Volkswagen Polo was again market leader with 3.995 sales and a share of 8.3%, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 58.615 with a share of 10.1%.

Toyota Hilux was 2nd with 3.561 units and a share of 7.4%, up 2.1 points from October. Year to date sales were 34.836 with 6.0% of share.

Toyota Etios was 3rd with 2.591 sales and share of 5.4%, up 1.0 points from October. Year to date sales were 19.911 with 3.7% of share.

Ford Ranger was 4th , up 1 spot, with 1.937 units and a share of 4.0%, up 1.2 points, followed by Toyota Quantum in 5th with 1.291 and Chevrolet Utility with 1.279.

Toyota Fortuner jumped in 7th from 15th with 1.264 units followed by Ford Figo in 8th with 1.172 sales and Isuzu KB in 9th with 1.174.

The best-selling luxury model was the Mercedes C Class in 10th with 1.080.
