South Korea Car Market Statistics. Best-selling Brands and Models ranking.

South Korean Car Market Statistics were negative in November 2013, according to data released by KAMA and KAIMA, the two South Korean Associations of Automotive Manufacturers. Domestic sales were down 6.4% from last year with 132.710 sales. Year to date sales were 1.395.551 up only 0.1% from year ago.

Looking at the best brands performance last month:

Hyundai sold 54.302 vehicles with a share performance a little lower than in recent months, at 40.9%. Year-to-date sales were 590.705 with a share of 42.3%, down 1.2 points from last year. Hyundai held 5 models in the top 6, with the Porter able to confirm the leadership among models for the third month in a row.

Kia sold 38.952 vehicles with a share of 29.4%, up 0.8 points of share from October. Year-to-date sales were 418.229 with a share of 30.0%, down 1.5 points from last year. The best-selling model was again the Morning in second place, while K5 was 7th.

Chevrolet/Daewoo in third sold 14.100 cars with a share of 10.6%, up 0.4 points of share from October. Year-to-date sales were 133.187 with a share of 9.5%, down 0.1 points from last year. The top model Spark ranked 8th.

SsangYong in fourth place sold 6.202 vehicles with a share of 4.7%, up 0.1 points from October. Year-to-date sales were 57.048 with a share of 4.1%, up 1.1 points from last year. The top model Korando Sport ranked 14th.

Renault/Samsung was 5th with 5.301 vehicles and a share of 4.0%, up 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 52.100 with a share of 3.7%, down 0.2 points from FY 2012. The best-selling model was the SM5 ranked 15th.

Volkswagen advanced in 6th and was the best-importer with 2.825 sales and 2.1% of share, flat from the previous month. Year-to-date Volkswagen was 7th with 24.226 sales and 1.7% of share, up 0.5 points from last year. The best-selling model was the Golf.

BMW was seven with 2.746 sales and a share of 2.1%, down 0.1 points from October. Year-to-date sales were 30.773 with 2.2% of share, up 0.4 points from FY 2012.

Mercedes was 8th selling 1.935 units with a share of 1.5%, down 0.1 points of share from October. Year-to-date Mercedes was 8th with 22.777 sales and 1.6% of share, up 0.3 points from last year.

Hyundai Porter kept leadership with 8.277 sales and a share of 6.2%, down 0.5 points from the previous month. Year-to-date it was third with 83.727 sales and 6.0% of share.

Kia Morning was 2nd with 8.080 units and a share of 6.1%, up 0.3 points from the previous month. Year to date Morning was second with 85.630 units.

Hyundai Avante was 3rd with 8.067 sales and a share of 6.1%, down 0.2 points from the previous month. Year to date it was market leader with 86.102 sales and 6.2% of share.

Hyundai Sonata was 4th, up 1 spot, with 7.283 units and a share of 5.5%, flat from the previous month, followed by Hyundai Santa Fe in 5th with 7.141 sales and a share of 5.4%.

Hyundai Grandeur was 6th with 5.888 sales and 4.4% of share, ahead of Kia K5 and Chevrolet Spark, respectively 7th and 8th with 5.560 and 4.916 sales.

Kia Bongo was 9th with 4.630 sales while Hyundai ix35 10th with 4.405.
