UAE car market rose 16% in March 2014 ending the best first quarter sales ever and posting the 32th year on year winning month in a row started in August 2011. Launching new Patrol, Nissan gained terrain towards any players.

In March 2014 accordingly with data released by focus2move Research Team through local sources and manufacturers, total new Light Passengers Vehicles sold have been 36.800, up 23.2% from year ago. First quarter 2014 sales have been 103.058, up 16.6% from year ago.  

The market is running very fast again and the 16% increase posted so far is almost higher thanks any observer expectations, keeping the growth level of 2013, when the market grew at 362.838 units, soaring in World’s 29th place.

During the first quarter the market advanced in 27th position and the over 400k volume for the entire year is now really near.

Selling over 31.000 vehicles in the quarter Toyota confirmed its supremacy in the market with a share above 30% and with many models on top of the list, starting from the best three, the Hilux, Land Cruiser and Prado that had been sold respectively in 5.470, 4.501 and 4.654 units.

The first challenger is Nissan that fully benefit from last generation Patrol to gain terrain and sell the 16% of first quarter vehicles.

Mitsubishi was third with 8.579 retails and 8.3% of share.

In March advancing in the fifth absolute place, BMW stands as leader of premium segment with a new record market share of 4.7% with 1741 sales. In the first quarter BMW share was 4.0%, up 1.2 points from last year. The second luxury brand was Lexus with quarterly retails at 2.599 followed by a surprisingly Land Rover with 1.731 that did better than Mercedes at 1.639 and Audi at 1.135.

Among American carmakers, while Ford still is the top seller ranking in seventh place while Chevrolet was 9th and Dodge 16th.

Chinese Geely that is imported in this country since 2009 is not yet successful as in other Gulf countries and ended the Q1 2014 with only 240 retails.
