Uruguay car market dropped 10% in March 2013. Chery soared in third place.

In March, the light passenger vehicles sold in Uruguay were 4.189, losing 10.3% from last year. However, first quarter sales were 12.371, up 4.8%. Full Year 2013 forecast are still positive and the market is foreseen up 5%, from last year, which was the best ever.

Looking at the top brands performance:

Chevrolet in 1st position sold 674 vehicles with a share of 16.1%, down 0.8 points of share from the previous month and 1.5 from the first quarter of 2012. Year-to-date March sales were 2.044 with a share of 16.5%.

Volkswagen was 2nd, selling 425 vehicles with a share of 10.1%, down 1.0 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.296 with a share of 10.5%.

Chery was 3rd (5th year-to-date) selling 341 vehicles with a share of 8.1%, up 0.3 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 885 with a share of 7.2%.

Nissan was 4th selling 338 vehicles with a share of 8.1%, down 0.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 966 with a share of 7.8%.

Fiat fell to the 5th position (3rd year-to-date) selling 309 units with a share of 7.4%, down 1.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.011 with a share of 8.2%.

Suzuki was 6th selling 248 vehicles with a share of 5.9%, up 0.4 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 751 with a share of 6.1%.

Peugeot was 7th, selling 239 units with a share of 5.7%, up 0.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 745 with a share of 6.0%.
