Uruguay: car market run towards new all-time record. Fiat boomed sales in May.

Following the strong improvement shown in the previous month, in May, the light passenger vehicles sold in Uruguay were 5.188, again a robust 18.4% increase from last year. Thanks to this great performance, cumulate sales were 21.930, up 11.0% from last year, on track to deliver again record sales.

Looking at the top brands performance:

Chevrolet in 1st posted a better month than April, selling 745 vehicles with a share of 14.4%, up 1.1 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date May sales were 3.372 with a share of 15.4%.

Volkswagen was 2nd, selling 546 units with a share of 10.5%, down 1.5 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.367 with a share of 10.8%.

Fiat climbed to the 3rd position, selling 529 units with an s hare of 10.2%, up 4.1 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date May sales were 1.806 with a share of 8.2%.

Nissan fell to the 4th position, selling 372 units with a share of 7.2%, down 1.7 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.729 with a share of 7.9%.

Chery in 5th posting a better month, with 354 sales and a share of 6.8%, up 1.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.490 with a share of 6.8%.

Suzuki jumped to the 6th position, selling 341 units with a share of 6.6%, up 1.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.310 with a share of 6.0%.

Renault was 7th (9th year-to-date) selling 284 vehicles with a share of 5.5%, up 0.2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 977 with a share of 4.5%.
