U.S.A. car market up 13% in July 2013. Toyota outpaced Chevrolet in second place.

Overall U.S. light passenger vehicles sales rose 13.9% in July at 1.313.689. Last was the 26th year-on-year increase in a string with S.A.A.R. at 15.9 million, flat from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 9.134.000, up 8.5%.

Looking at the Top Brands performance:

Ford in 1st posted an awful month, selling 186.161 vehicles with a share of 14.2%, down 2.0 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date July sales were 1.437.609 with a share of 15.7%. Ford held 6 models in the top 50, with the F-Series as market leader.

Toyota climbed to the 2nd position (3rd year-to-date) selling 164.102 units with a share of 12.5%, up 0.6 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.119.478 with a share of 12.3%. Toyota held 8 models in the top 50, with the Camry in 3rd position.

Chevrolet fell to the 3rd position (2nd year-to-date) selling 162.670 units with a share of 12.4%, down 1.4 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.177.804 with a share of 12.9%. Chevrolet held 6 models in the top 50, with the Silverado in 2nd position.

Honda kept the 4th position, posting a beautiful month with 126.289 sales and a share of 9.6%, up 0.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 794.886 with a share of 8.7%. The top model was Civic in 4th position.

Nissan in 5th sold 101.279 units with a share of 7.7%, up 0.9 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 673.755 with a share of 7.4%. The best-selling model was again the Altima in 7th position.

Hyundai in 6th sold 66.005 vehicles with a share of 5.0%, up 0.4 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 427.015 with a share of 4.7% The Elantra was 11th.

Kia maintained the 7th position (8th year-to-date) selling 49.004 units with a share of 3.7%, up 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 326.355 with a share of 3.6%. The best-selling model was the Optima in 24th.

Jeep was 8th (9th year-to-date) selling 42.277 units with a share of 3.2%, stable from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 271.682 with a share of 3.0%. The Grand Cherokee was 21st.

Dodge fell to the 9th position (7th year-to-date) selling 41.986 units with a share of 3.2%, down 0.4 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 360.400 with a share of 3.9%. The top model was the RAM was 6th.

GMC was 10th selling 39.356 vehicles with a share of 3.0%, up 0.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 260.052 with a share of 2.8%.The best-selling model was the Sierra in 20th position.

Ford F-Series was the market leader with 60.449 units and a share of 4.6, down 0.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 427.935 with a share of 4.7%.

Chevrolet Silverado was 2nd with 42.080 units and a share of 3.2%, up 0.1 points from the previous month, followed by Toyota Camry in 3rd with 34.780 sales and a share of 2.6%, stable from June.

Honda Civic was 4th, up 2 spots, with 32.416 units and a share of 2.5%, up 0.4 points from the previous month, followed by Honda Accord in 5th with 31.507 sales and a share of 2.4%, up 0.1 points from June, and by Dodge RAM in 6th, up 1 spot, with 31.314 sales and a share of 2.4%, up 0.3 points from the previous month.

Nissan Altima was 7th, up 2 spots, with 29.534 units and a share of 2.2%, up 0.3 points from the previous month, followed by Honda CR-V in 8th, up 2 spots, with 27.226 sales and a share of 2.1%, up 0.2 points from June.

Chevrolet Cruze was 9th, down 5 spots, with 25.447 units and a share of 1.9%, down 0.4 points from the previous month, followed by Toyota Corolla in 10th with 24.463 sales and a share of 1.9%, stable from June.
