USA March growth driven by Nissan & Chrysler Group. See All Brands & Top Models.

In March 2014 U.S. auto market posted 1.534.120 retails, up 5.8% from last year finally in line with analysts’ expectations. First quarter sales have been 3.742k, up 1.5% from 2012.

Ford did begin to see sales improvements in March as the midsize Fusion set a record for monthly sales and the F-Series climbed again above 70,000 units, first time this year. Despite last month recovery, first quarter Ford share was at 14.9%, down half a point from full year 2013.

Toyota recovered after the weak February and was second with 180k, 54k down from Ford.

Aside from the fact that the Ram outsold the Chevrolet Silverado in the second place in the market, GM’s Group delayed sales release didn’t reveal anything positive. Chevrolet quarterly share fell 0.4 points from FY 2013, despite the March recovery.

Nissan boomed sales at 136k with share flat at the high level touched in February with a brilliant quarterly performance and share at 8.6%, up 1.3 points from full year 2013.

In the history of Jeep sales have never been higher on a monthly basis than they were in March 2014, and it wasn’t all down to the Cherokee, as even the Patriot and Compass produced their highest-volume months ever.  However Jeep share at 3.9% was slightly lower the previous two month, while first quarter share at 3.9% was 0.8 higher than last year.

Fiat also enjoyed its best ever sales month, although sales of the 500 were down 13% cannibalized by new 500L demand.
