Amazing start of the year for the vehicle market in Israel with the first two months up 14 percent compared with last year record. Behind Toyota, Hyundai and Kia, Mazda is fast recovering the ancient prestige.

In February 2015 according to data released by the Israeli Department of Transportation System total new Light Passenger Vehicles sold in Israel have been 21.850, up 2.4%% compared with the correspondent month last year.

Year to Date sales in Israel have been 55.474, up 14.1% thanks to the booming January when sales rose 23.2%.

Absolutely not bad as start of the year, considering that the comparison is towards the record year.

In February, Toyota took the leadership with 2.807 sales (+8.9%) with 12.8% of market share, up 3.7 points from the previous month. In second plate Hyundai with 2.636 units (+24.8%) defending the year to date leadership after a very strong January. In third arrived Kia with 2.437 sales (+24.0%) and 11.2% of market share.

There was a time, almost 10 years ago, when this market was dominated by Mazda. Then the Japanese brand declined. Thanks to the youngest line up in the market, Mazda is now recovering and the in this start of the year was very close to the three leaders. In February it sold 2.229 units (+26.8%).

Mitsubishii in fifth place was strong as well, with 1.688 sales (+43.3%).

Others remarkable performances were scored by Seat (8th with 796 units, +84.5%), Subaru (9th with 754 units, +45.5%) and Citroen (13th with 524 sales, +33.2%).

As far as the car groups performance and ranking, the leader was Hyundai-Kia with 23.2% of market share, ahead of Toyota with 13.2% and Volkswagen Group with 13.1%.

As far as best-selling models ranking, the Toyota Corolla was again n top (for the 18th consecutive time) with 1.370 units (-9.6%), followed by the Mitsubishi Attrage with 1.126 units (+140.1%) and Kia Picanto with 1.043 (+19.6%).
