World Light Vehicle Groups ranking Hot Honda

World Light Vehicle Groups ranking in Q1 2015 led by Volkswagen albeit Toyota Group was ahead in February and in March.  Nissan-Renault stands in third while Hyundai Group advanced in fourth place ahead of Chevrolet.

Battle for the leadership

As in the previous month, Toyota Group was again on top of the list with global registrations at 982.499, flat from the previous year. The rival Volkswagen Group was behind with a gap of 36.000 units with sales up 1.9% from March 2014, leading the first quarter ranking with 2.583.000 sales, over 123.000 versus Toyota.

Battle for podium

Renault-Nissan Group kept the third place just conquered selling 813.433 units and ending the first quarter in the third step of the podium. Behind, General Motors scored a negative month with sales at 713.793 (-2.8%) losing also the fourth place being outpaced by Hyundai Group.

Chevrolet sales this year suffer the decision to quite West Europe and is not recovering sales in North America. However, the first quarter ranking was the 4th with 1.887.000 sales, while Hyundai follows with a gap reduced at 18.000 units.

Ford is well behind in sixth place with 591.722 sales in March (+3.0%), ending the first quarter with the best increase in the top 10 groups.

Winners

This year in China the Chinese brands are considerably recovering market share and we see the effect of their success in the World ranking with three Chinese groups growing with huge year on year split: Great Wall was the 16th global group with monthly sales up to 142.246 the double compared with last year.

Jac in 25th place improved sales by 165% at 50.388 units while GM-SAIG-Wuling joint venture reported a huge +596%.
