World Top 100 Cars Brand Ranking with Honda at best place ever. Mercedes inside the top ten with a double-digit growth while Fiat ended the Q1 with one of the worse performance falling in 15th place.

Market Outlook

In the First Quarter 2015, the Global Light Passengers Vehicles (cars plus light commercial vehicles) global market grew only 2.5% from the correspondent period in the previous year with total sales at 22.15 million units, up only half a million vehicles from Q1 2014. March growth (not fully consolidated) was at 3.0% after the +0.6 and +3.8 reported respectively for January and February.

The full year 2015 is projected positive again and should hit the 6th all time record in a row. After first quarter, our panelist have reviewed up the forecast and now volume is at 90.1 million units.

World Top 100 Brands Ranking

First Quarter 2015 market leader was Toyota, as in the last 26 quarters, with over 2 million vehicles sold and albeit a loss of 1.7% from the previous year.

In second place, Volkswagen ended the quarter with sales flat from Q1 2014 at 1.79 million with March down 1.2%. In the month, Ford was very near with 581.471 sales , just 15.000 less than VW. Ford’s quarterly performance was up 4.2%, the best among the Top 10 brands.

Chevrolet in March fell in 7th place losing the tail of the others brands fighting for the fourh place (Nissan, Hyundai) and was behind Honda for the first time ever. The American brand sales are suffering the decision to quite Western European countrie and will probebly fall in 6th place this year.

Honda took the opportunity to overtake the American rival and gain its best ever ranking, the 6th, with 414.000 sales (-0.3%).

The best premium brand was Mercedes with a double-figit performance and an advantage over BMW and Audi respectively of 8.000 and 17.000 units. Fiat has lost 4.5% in March dropping in 15th place. In the quarter Fiat double-digit loss in one of the worse in absolute.
