Greece Car Market soared 21% in 2014 pushed up by strong recovery in the Greek economy. In December sales jumped 50 percent up. Opel Corsa ends the annual race on top of the list.

In December 2014 according to data released by the Association of Motor Vehicle Importers Representatives, the new Car Passengers sold in Greece have been 6.387, up 50.4% compared with the correspondent month last year.

Full Year 2014 sales in Greece have been 71.222, up 21.3% from 2013

Thank to this recovery the market is now at one fourth of the record hit in the Athens Olympic Games year (2004). The resurging consumers demand was strong in the last half of the year while the country was progressively improving the economic outlook.

However, political election scheduled for end of January can totally change economic strategy with Greece that could quite the Euro zone and a strong financial depreciation in the market. In this case, our scenario is very positive for car sales in the first half of 2015 while a huge fail is expected from the second.

Toyota ended the year on top of the brands list, selling 722 cars in December and 8.021 in the full year, with a market share above 11%.

Fueled by fleet sales, Mercedes soared in second place in December (11th in the year) with 632 units, ahead of Volkswagen with 566.

In December many brands posted amazing performances as Nissan (6th with 344 sales, +182.0%), Peugeot (17th with 122 sales, +205.0%) and Kia (18th with 105 units, +156.1%).

As far as the Car Groups performance and ranking the leader was the Volkswagen Group with 16.2% of market share, ahead of BMW with 11.6% and Toyota with 11.4%.

As far as Best-selling models performance and ranking, the Opel Corsa was again on top with 538 sales (+144.5%) ahead of Nissan Qashqai with 429 (+1091.7%) units and Toyota Yaris with 352 (+29.9%).
