Mexican Automotive Industry a finger down the record in 2014 albeit a tremendous second half with all month growing in double digit. However last year was the best in eight. Hyundai landed in top 10.
In December 2014 according to data released by A.M.I.A., the Association of Mexican Automotive Industry, the new Light Passengers Vehicles sold in Mexico have been 133.273, up 11.7% compared with the correspondent month last year, ending a second half 2014 with all month growing in double digit.
Full Year 2014 sales in Mexico have been 1.134175, up 6.7% from 2013, the second best year ever, just few units below the all-time record
As always, Nissan led the market with 34.940 December sales and 26.2% of share. Full Year sales were 291.729, +10.7% from 2013.
Chevrolet sold 24.428 cars this month and 216.958 in the year with share respectively at 18.3% and 19.1%.
The third was Volkswagen with 15.743 December units (-6.9%) and 160.088 in total (+2.4%).
The month was really positive for Toyota (4th with 9.826 sales, +17.8%), Mazda (8th with 5.192 sales, +25.8%), Renault (9th with 3.144 sales, +36.3%), Mitsubishi (12st with 1.481 sales, +34.9%) and Mini (18th with 583 sales, +48.0%).
However, the main celebration had been done in the Hyundai office. Just arrived in the market, the Korean carmaker in December entered in the Top 10 brands. Congratulations!
As far as the Car Groups performance and ranking the leader was Renault-Nissan alliance with 28.6% of market share, ahead of GM with 18.3% and Volkswagen Group with 14.3%.
