South Korean Car Market hit New All-time record in 2014 thanks to a sparkling December with sales boomed and many importers doubling sales volume. Nissan-Renault Alliance jumped at 13% market share.
In December 2014 according to data released by KAMA and KAIDA, the two South Korean Associations of Automotive Manufacturers, the new Light Passengers Vehicles sold in South Korea have been 184.510, up wonderful 40.2% from the correspondent month last year.
This was the new best ever month for Korean market.
Full Year 2014 sales in South Korea have been 1.664.247, up 9.0% from 2013, new all-time record.
December was sparkling for both domestic and imported brands.
The largest volume increase benefit the market leader, with Hyundai sales up 38.3% from December 2013 at 69.357 units, with a new full year record at 685.186, up 6.9% from 2013, with share at 41.2%.
Kia rushed in December to end the year in black and thanks to the 17.1% increase posted in the last month, the 2014 was ended with 465.200 sales, +1.3% from the previous year.
Hitting the monthly sales record, Renault Samsung – the local unit of French automaker Renault S.A- overtook GM Korea for the third place selling 23.645 units + a wonderful 259.1% consolidating a memorable year with sales at +60% boosted by the success of new models “designed by Renault”.
At the sales festival had been invited Importers as well, with Volkswagen, Mini and Nissan improving more than 100%.
As far as the car group’s performance and ranking, Hyundai-Kia was first with 63.6% of market share, ahead of Renault-Nissan with 13.3% and GM at 9.9%.
As far as best-selling models ranking, the podium was reserved to Hyundai with Grandeur, Avante and Sonata in a row.
