2014 France Car Market was flat albeit negative Q4, pushed up by Renault and Peugeot efforts. Citroen is in difficulties while new brands are growing, led by a turbo-Jeep. In December, Renault Captur was on podium.
In December 2014 according to data released by CCFA, the French Associations of Car Manufacturers, total new Car Passengers sold in France have been 163.354, down 6.8% from the correspondent month last year, posting the third decline in a row.
Full Year 2014 sales in France have been 1.795.885, up 0.3% from 2013
In December Renault sold 33.404 cars with share at 20.4%, improving 4.6% from year ago. Full Year sales have been 353.901 (+4.8%) with share at 19.7%
Peugeot in second sold 25.486 cars (+2.8% in December while the full year figures was 305.016 units and 17.0% of market share.
Citroen in December sold 16.777 units (-23.6%) while in the entire year 231.131 (-3.0%). To extrapolate a new brand from the “DS” series is not providing concreate effects on domestic performance.
In December many players scored a negative year on year performance. Among these, Toyota (-22.1%), Dacia (-18.3%) and Kia (-27.2%) were the more relevant.
Looking at the annual winner, it must be mentioned Dacia (5th with 102.516 sales, +14.1%), Volvo (20th with 12.459 units, +13.0%) and Jeep (31st with 2.783, +138.7%)
As far as the Car Groups performance and ranking, the December leader was Renault-Nissan with 29.2% of market share, ahead of P.S.A. with 25.9% and Volkswagen with 14.8%.
As far as best-selling models ranking, Renault Clio led with 11.111 sales (-4.0%), followed by Peugeot 208 with 7.409 (+11.6%) and Renault Captur with 6.882 (+10.3%).
