Australia Best Selling Cars Ranking in 2024. The Ford Ranger secured its position as best selling model, overtaking last year’s leader, the Toyota Hilux. The Toyota RAV4 posted one of the strongest performance, growing 95.4% and 3 spots into 2nd.
Sales of new light vehicles in Australia suffer from unstable conditions. After a 16-months consecutive growing string was broken in June, the market seemed to recover, only to fall again in August and keep contracting in September and October. The contraction advanced throughout November, when sales at 98,412 dropped 9.4% in year-on-year volume.
Looking at cumulative data up to November 2024, the Australian best-selling cars ranking reported the Ford Ranger -up 1 spot- as market leader with 58,100 sales (+4.5%). The Toyota RAV4 -up 3 spots- followed in 2nd with with 53,599 sales (+95.4%), while the Toyota Hilux -down 2 spots- ranked 3rd with 50,156 sales (-10.4%).
In fourth place the Isuzu D-Max -up 1 spot- with 27,824 (-1.9%) ahead of the Mitsubishi Outlander -up 2 spots- with 25,622 new registrations (+14.5%) and the Ford Everest -up 15 spots- with 24,018 sales (+76.9%).
In seventh place the Toyota Corolla -up 5 spots- with 22,526 sales (+24.5%) followed by the MG ZS -down 4 spots- with 21,462 (+22.6%), the Mazda CX-5 -down 1 spot- with 21,237 sales (-2%) and in 10th place the Kia Sportage -up 9 spots- with 19,997 sales (+40.8%).
