Colombian Vehicles Sales 2016 fell down in double-digit for the 2nd consecutive year. Renault ranked 2nd, pushed up by Sandero, the new best-selling model while Jaguar was the best performer.
Market Outlook
In Q3 2016, the Colombian economy recorded its worst performance since the height of the global financial crisis in 2009. The latest monthly data sent mixed signals of the economy in Q4, which suggests that Colombia closed 2016 still in bad shape. FocusEconomics analysts expect the economy to grow 2.4% in 2017, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.

According to data released by ANDI, the Colombian Associations of Car Manufacturers, in the year vehicles sales had been 252.577 sales (-10.8%).
Competitive Arena
Chevrolet was the leader with 60.089 units (-11.4%) ahead of Renault with 50.944 (+4.0%) and Kia with 26.297 (-7.3%).
Best performers had been ChangAn, Seat, Peugeot, Brilliance, Mazda, Hino and Subaru, while the best in absolute were Jaguar and Iveco, improving 94.6% and 80.2%.
Fiat recorded the worst performance, falling 82.7%, followed by Hyundai, International, Kenworth, Great Wall, Chery, Dongfeng and Dodge.
For the first time since 2012, the Renault Sandero reached the first step of the podium with 18.961 units (+15.5%), moreover was the only one Renault to gain the annual pole position in Colombia in the past 30 years.
The Chevrolet Spark was second with 17.160 units (+118.5%) ahead of the Chevrolet Sail with 15.512 (-14.0%).
