Hyundai Global Sales fell down heavily in the 2017. Seven out of the top 10 models reported decline and regional sales are struggling in Asia and in North America. The moderate gain in Europe and LatAm have not balanced the Asian fall.
During the 2017 Hyundai was in difficulties, following the already hard 2016, when sales declined 0.5% after years of continue and robust growth losing a position in the global ranking in favor of Nissan.
The 2017 was worse than any expectations with Global Sales sales at 4.4 million, down a sharp 8.7%.
At regional level the brand is losing in many continents. Positive score were reported in the C.I.S. region (+9.2%), thanks to the recovery of Russian market, in ASEAN (+7.7%), in latin America (+6.2%) and in Europe (+3.2%).
Lost were reported in the Gulf Cooperation Council region (-33.7%), in Asia (including China, Japan, India and Korea) (-11.9%) and in North America (-12.3%).
At model-wise, seven out of the top 10 models have lost volume. The top-selling model was the Elantra with 623.000 sales ahead of the SUV Tucson with 619.000 sales and the Sonata with 282.000 units.

In our exclusive study we report sales, year by year, for each region. So it is detailed the sales variations behind the fact that the top region actually is the Asian achieving a 2017 mix of 54.7% (vs. 51.7% in the 2010). The second region is American (North, Center and South) with 26.1% of total (vs. 25.7% in the 2010) while the European counts 14.8% in the 2017 vs 16.1% in the 2010.
The study reports annual sales for each country in the World and we track Hyundai‘s sales in 140 countries.
On top of all countries in the 2017 there was China with 23.2% of global sales share (from 20.1% in the 2010), ahead of USA with 15.8% (from 14.3%), South Korea with 13.5% (from 17.9%), India with 10.3% and Brazil with 4.1%.
In the study all models sales are analyzed from 2010 to 2017.
