Market Trend
Polish Vehicles market is characterized by a large used vehicles market and, unique in Europe, by a strong import of “fresh” used vehicles mainly arriving from Germany. However, in recent years, the research for lower emission vehicles and the increased income available for spending in mobility, have generated a strong demand for new cars boosting the market from 384.000 in the 2012 to 489.190 in the 2018, current all time record, the fourth in a row.
However, this positive trend is not designed to end in short and in 2019 the market has further grown, flying for first time over the milestone of half a million units sold in a calendar year.
Indeed, according to data released by the local Association of Car Distributors, Total sales in 2019 have been 543.324, up 2.9%.
The market leader was still Skoda with a share of 12.6% while the first challengers, Toyota has grown again and will challenge the leadership in a couple of years, at least. Toyota share in 2019 hit a record, surging over 11%, to be compared with the 7.3% done in the 2012.
In third place, there was Volkswagen with 9.5% of share (the record is 10.4% done in the 2016) followed by a declining Opel and by the emerging Dacia.
