Bulgarian vehicles sales in 2019 have further grown, hitting the best score in this decade. Indeed, Total sales have been 44.449, up 7.4% and December increased by 2.9% at 2.893. Dacia reinforced the leadership reaching 12.2% of market share, ahead of Renault and Skoda.

Economic Environment

Bulgarian economic growth exceeded expectations in the third quarter, thanks to sturdy domestic demand and a rebound in exports. Total consumption remained in the driver’s seat in Q3, benefiting from a record-low unemployment rate and strong wage growth. Meanwhile, fixed investment picked up pace in Q3; however, it remained subdued nonetheless, restrained by the challenging external backdrop, which also limited the scope of the rebound in exports.

Turning to the fourth quarter, an uptick in consumer confidence and a further dip in business sentiment in October paint a similar pattern at the outset of Q4, pointing to resilient consumer spending but downbeat investment activity. Meanwhile, at the end of October, the government approved the budget draft for 2020.

Market Trend

Bulgarian vehicles market in recent years has moderately recovered from the huge fall reported in the 2009. The market is improving since the 2013 and in 2017 reached 37.435 sales (+19.8%) before to hit the 41.390 (+10.8%) in the 2018.

According to data reported by the Bulgarian Minister of Transportation, in the 2019 the market has further grown, reaching the best level in this decade. Indeed, total sales have been 44.449, up 7.4% and in December increased by 2.9% at 2.893.

Dacia has reinforced the leadership hitting 12.2% of market share, well ahead of the main followers, Renault, at 9.3% and Skoda at 8.4%.
