Bosnia Herzegovina Vehicles Market in 2015 was positive thanks to a strong Q4 when sales recovered over 25% allowing a final gain of 7.%. The Skoda Octavia again market leader ahead of the booming Volkswagen Passat.
Economic Outlook
The economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) expanded 3.1% in Q3 on an annual basis, driven by the financial services sector. Corroborating this development, the Sarajevo stock exchange (SASE) observed strong growth in 2015.
In January of this year, Turkish stock exchange Borsa moved to increase its stake in SASE after it issued another offering of shares in mid-January.
The recently-appointed director of the SASE has been proactive in promoting financial literacy amongst BiH’s population. Should his efforts gain traction, the country could see more growth stemming from activity in the financial markets.
Market Outlook
During the 2015 the Bosnian vehicles industry has changed direction each quarter. After a positive first half and a very negative third quarter, during the Q4 the sales boomed over 25% allowing at the entire year to be reported in black.
According to data released by the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the total light passengers vehicles sold in the 2015 have been 7.011, up 7.6% from the 2014.
Despite losing 10.5% of volumes, Volkswagen confirmed the leadership in the market leader with 1.094 sales and 15.6% of market share with a little advantage over the second, Skoda with 723, Third ranked Opel with 661 units (+14.4%) ahead of Renault with 444 (+12.7%) and Fiat with 365 (-16.0%).
The best-selling model was the Skoda Octavia with 494 sales (+3.3%) followed by the Volkswagen Passat with 308 (+98.7%) and Volkswagen Golf with 306 (+8.4%).
