Paraguay Vehicles Sales in 2015 dropped down 20% at the lowest level out of the last five years. Kia on top of the list gained share while Toyota outpaced Hyundai in second place. The Hilux was best seller.
Country Outlook
Thanks to high levels of Government spending, particularly in the construction sector, Paraguay’s economy has held up against a backdrop of a Latin American slowdown and grew 3.0% last year.
However, it will be challenging to sustain this resilience as 85% of Paraguayan exports are destined for regional markets, mainly Brazil and Argentina, both of which are undergoing economic turbulence and are facing a high degree of uncertainty looking ahead.
Argentina’s new Macri-led government has signaled that it is more willing than the previous administration to open up negotiations with Paraguay over a jointly operated hydroelectric dam that had been the source of bitter relations between the two countries in the past.
