World Best Selling Coupe up to August 2024 is the Ford Mustang (+0.3%) overtaking last year’s leader the Dodge Charger (-36.6%). Dodge Challenger lost 9.5% in year-on-year volume.
Looking at cumulative sales up to August 2024, the new leader became the Ford Mustang reporting 42,396 new registrations (+0.3%). Manufactured since 1965, it is the most iconic vehicles produced by Ford, having created the “pony car” class of American muscle cars, affordable sporty coupe with long hoods and short rear decks. The 5th current generation, launched in 2014 is distributed in over 135 countries.
In 2nd place ranked the former market leader Dodge Charger with 40,882 cumulative salesĀ (-36.6%). Introduced in the US market in 1966, this model has been developed across seven generations, the last introduced in 2011, and has finally taken over its archenemy.
The Dodge Challenger followed in 3rd best selling with 30,773 sales and a 9.5% loss form the prior year.
The Chevrolet Corvette .up 1 spot- ranked in 4th with 28,022 units sold (+11.9%).
In 5th place ranked the Mazda MX-5 -up 5 spots- with 23,691 units sold (+15.2%), followed by theĀ BMW i4 -up 3 spots- with 21,118 units sold (+0.8%), the Porsche 911 -up 1 spot- at 19,558 (-12.8%) and the Toyota GT86 -up 3 spots- with 16,840 sales (-6.3%), and the Porsche Taycan -down 2 spots- with 15,441 sales (-31.7%).
Finally, in tenth place ranked the Mercedes AMG GT -up 7 spots- with 13,805 units sold (-48.1%).
