Romanian car market in 2019 saw Dacia holding the entire podium, with the Logan at 16.2% followed by the Duster and the Sandero. Impressive performances scored by the Nissan Qashqai and the Ford Ecosport, entering the top 10.
The Dacia Logan is a small family car or compact MPV (Logan MCV) produced jointly by the French manufacturer Renault and its Romanian subsidiary Dacia since 2004. It is currently in its second generation, launched in the 2013 and has been manufactured at Dacia’s automobile plant in Mioveni, Romania, and at Renault’s plants in Morocco, Brazil, Turkey,Russia, Colombia, Iran, India and South Africa.
It has also been marketed as the Renault Logan, Nissan Aprio, Mahindra Verito, Renault Tondar 90, Lada Largus (the MCV), Nissan NP200 (the pick-up) or Renault Symbol, depending on the existing presence or positioning of the Renault brand.
Indeed, in 2019, the Dacia Logan dominated with 16.2% of share, surging over 25% from 2018, ahead of the Duster and the Sandero, which closed respectively at 7.2% and 6.2%.
In fourth place, the Renault Clio – up 1 spot – with 3.3%, outpacing the Skoda Octavia by just a few units.
In sixth place, the Nissan Qashqai marked the best top 10 performance, gaining 5 positions from the previous year, followed by the Renault Megane with 2.4% and the Ford Focus with 2%.
Closing the top 10, the Ford Ecosport landed in 9th place- booming 87.1% – ahead of the Suzuki Vitara, holding 1.7% of market share.
