Best Selling Cars Ranking in China from 2023 reports the Tesla Model Y with the most units sold (+23.9%). BYD places two models in the podium and is ready to attach the leadership.

 

Representing nearly 30% of global sales, the Chinese market is by far the largest in the World.

Over 1.000 models are sold in the country with a sales spread among several models and a low concentration among the top models, with the best-seller market share just above the 2%.

Looking at the passenger cars’ ranking from 2023, the Tesla Model Y becomes the new leader, rising 3 spots with 456,394 new sales (+23.9%).

The Tesla Model Y jumps 5 spots into second reporting 434,213 sales and a 40.8% year-on-year increase in sales, followed by BYD Qin Plus with 424.213 sales and BYD Song with 395,201 units sold (-14.0%).

Previous year’s leader Nissan Sylphy falls 2 spots into 4th with 378,272 sales (-15.3%), followed by the Volkswagen Lavida  with 345,879 (-4.4%), the Toyota Corolla with 326,467 sales (-5.0%) and the BYD Yuan Plus -up spots- in 7th place with 309,835 sales (+84.7%)

The BYD Dolphin jumps 8 spots into 8th with 299,708 registrations (+46.3%), followed by the Volkswagen Sagitar up 5 spots in 9th with 285,050 units sold (+26.4%) and the Changan CS75  closing the Top 10 with 245,963 new sales (+4.4%).
