Argentina Cars Market in November 2016

Argentinean Cars Market in November kept the pace improving in double digit, despite the economic weaknesses. Volkswagen was the new brand leader while Renault was 4th.

Market Outlook

Weaknesses that had been plaguing growth since the start of the year appear to have carried over into Q4. Consumer confidence deteriorated in November as a high unemployment rate and low real wages are dampening household spending. The government presented its proposal for reforming the income tax on 22 November.

As regard the domestic vehicles sales in November showed a sharp improvement, hitting the 5th y.o.y. increase in a row and pushing up the market in double digit.

Indeed, according to data released by the ACARA and the ADEFA, the Argentinian Associations of car manufacturers and dealers, in November the vehicles sold had been 57.176 units, up 17.4%.

Year to date the total vehicles sales have been 642.615 units, up 10.2%.

Competitive Arena

Year to date November, Volkswagen kept the leadership reporting 100.108 vehicles sold (-10.0%) followed by Chevrolet with 90.863 (+12.3%), Renault with 87.685 (+20.8%), Ford with 86.843 (+1.2%) and Toyota with 71.284 units (+15.2%).

Great performances posted by Jeep with 2.848 (+830.7%) and BMW with 2.133 (+420.2%).

The Toyota Hilux kept the leadership with 29.667 sales (+18.5%) followed by the Fiat Palio with 25.839 (+5.1%) the Volkswagen Golf with 25.017 (-14.8%). The Toyota Etios was fourth with 22.284 units (+18.1%) ahead of Renault Clio with 22.032 (+3.8%).
