Australia Auto Market First Half 2016 was the best ever with June hitting the highest sales volume ever. The industry keeps the moderate but stable growing speed and project a full year 2016 near the 1.2 million.

Market Outlook

Despite several car makers have announced to quite vehicles production from the country aiming to reduce cost producing in the emerging ASEAN region, the domestic vehicles market is keeping the moderate and slow growth and the all time record hit during the 2015 is now challenged by the 2016 trend.

According to data released by the FCAI, the Federation of Australian Car Manufacturers, June 2016 posted the highest sales level ever with a total of 128.569 sales, up 2.2% from the same month last year.

With such high performance, the first half was propelled to end at the highest level ever, beating last year record with 596.262 units, up 3.1%

Competive Arena

In June Toyota sold 22.083 vehicles (+5.8%) with 17.7% of market share ending the fist half with over 100.000 sales, up 1.2%.

Mazda was second with 12.455 units (+8.1%) ahead of Hyundai with 12.300 (+11.7%), Holden with 11.376 (-4.6%), Mitsubishi with 8.726 (-3.2%), Ford with 8.316 (+14.7%) and Nissan with 6.781 (+2.2%).

Great performances had been reported for Kia with 5.170 (+41.0%) and Jaguar, 27th with 229 units (+209%).

Weak sales for Renault (-57%), Volvo (-34%) and Fiat (-67%).

As far as the Car Groups performance, Toyota Group was the first with 18.0% of market share, ahead of Hyundai-Kia with 13.6%, Mazda with 9.7% and General Motors with 8.8%.

As far as the best-selling models performance, the Hyundai i30 dominated with 6.432 sales (+16.5%) followed by the Toyota Hilux with 4.613 (+7.8%), the Toyota Corolla with 4.427 (+6.6%) the Mazda3 with 4.112 (-0.4%), the Ford Ranger with 4.078 (+20.9%) and the Holden Commodore with 3.054 (+10.2%).
